Principal Stiner

  • Welcome Back

Welcome to the 2021 – 2022 school year. I am Dr. Dana Stiner, the proud principal of Pine Tree Elementary. I am so excited to welcome you and your family back for another year of learning and fun! Whether you are new to our school or returning, I extend a warm welcome and I look forward to partnering with you, your child and the rest of your family so that your child(ren) receives the best education possible.

    Ice Cream Social

We have several important dates quickly approaching. First is our annual Ice Cream Social which will be held on August 24th from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM on our primary playground. At this event, class rosters will be posted and our staff will be present to introduce themselves, welcome you and to answer any questions you might have. Please bring masks to use/wear throughout the event.  A special shout-out to our PTO for providing the ice cream.

    First Day of School

Our first day of school for grades 1st – 6th will be August 25th. Kindergarten students will begin on August 31st after all students have completed their WA Kids assessment. If your child is entering kindergarten, please watch for an email or phone call to schedule this meeting.

    Drop-off and Pick-up

Our school day runs from 9:15 AM to 3:55 PM. Our first bell rings at 9:10 AM and our late bell rings at 9:15 AM. All students must be inside their homerooms before the 9:15 bell rings or they will be marked tardy. When students arrive on campus, they are to report to either the primary (K – 2) or intermediate (3rd – 6th) playgrounds or the breakfast area (new multipurpose room). Students in our self-contained program head directly to their classrooms. Staff will be outside to assist, direct and answer questions as needed.

Dismissal begins at 3:50 with parent pick-up and walkers being dismissed first. All walkers will walk on the sidewalk that runs beside the new multipurpose building. They will exit through the gate and meet our crossing guard at the crosswalk to safely cross the street. Parent pickup occurs along 118th Ave. Parents are not permitted to drop-off or pick-up in the parking lot. Only busses are permitted to enter during pick-up and drop-off times. During the day, parents can park in our main parking lot in any of our visitor spaces.

    Bus Passes

All bus passes will be mailed home. Please make sure your child takes their pass with them to the bus so that driver can confirm that they are boarding the correct bus. If you have questions about bus passes, please call transportation at (253) 373-7442 or our main office number, (253) 373-7687.

    CDC Guidelines/Covid Updates

Full time, in-person learning, is scheduled for all registered students. Hybrid and remote learning is not currently an option. However, this may change as bargaining agreements are finalized and/or if the CDC changes their recommendations and guidelines.

All students, staff and visitors are required to wear masks while school is in session. The mask must fit over both the nose and the mouth. Masks can be taken off during lunch and recess.

Upon entering and exiting classrooms, students will be expected to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer. Please inform your child’s teacher and the school nurse if your child is allergic to hand sanitizer. While in the classroom, students will maintain a 3 foot distance from one another.

Please visit our Retrun to School Safely page for new and updated COVID information.

    School Breakfast and Lunch

School lunch and breakfast will be served in our brand new multi-purpose room. Breakfast and lunch are available at no cost for all students through the Free and Reduced-Price Meal program for the 2021-22 school year. And, by completing a free and reduced-price meal application, students and families may be eligible for additional benefits and schools can receive funding. Learn more and apply for free and reduced-price meals.

As always, feel free to reach out to myself or to anyone of our amazing staff members with questions, concerns or inquires. We are here to help.

    Respectfully,
    Dr. Dana Stiner
