Principal Maurer

  • Dear Kentlake Community-

As the principal of Kentlake High School, it is my moral obligation to ensure that each Kentlake Falcon walks across the stage to receive their diploma with a clear plan for the future in place. In order to ensure that every Falcon has this opportunity, we must create a collaborative school culture where students know our community believes in their capacity to learn at high levels. Our Falcon Family has solidified this belief in a series of belief statements:

At Kentlake High School WE BELIEVE:

    • The diverse perspectives of our student body contribute to our strength as a Falcon Family.
    • Each one of our students is capable of graduating to college or a career (T-2-4) and our students deserve equitable opportunities that will enable them to live their best life.
    • Each student deserves to learn in an environment grounded in equity; Falcon educators play a key role in creating a school culture that supports equity.
    • The students who walk our halls are the generation that will change the world.

Our students’ diversity creates a rich learning environment as our students share their culture and beliefs with others. The diverse student voices in our community are important as we work to create and maintain an equitable environment. There are many ways for students to use their voice at school, including our Black Student Union, Diversity Council, Associated Student Body, and our Principal Advisory Council. These student groups contribute to building-wide decision making by sharing their perspectives and providing feedback.

Our families also have an important role in the work. We encourage our families to contribute to decision making through participation in our Learning Improvement Team, Academy Parent Nights, periodic surveys, and our PTSA/Booster partnerships. Kentlake wants to include all stakeholders as we work together towards our 100% graduation goal.

Working together as a Falcon Family, we can ensure that each student is able to cross the graduation stage ready to represent Kentlake in apprenticeships, internships, technical schools, 4-year universities or careers across the area. If you have any questions about our community or how you can get involved, please contact me at Heidi.Maurer@Kent.K12.wa.us

    Respectfully-

    Heidi Maurer
