About Us
Our Safety Services team provides safety and security for students, staff, and visitors. The twenty-six safety services staff members support students and employees at schools across the District's seventy-three square miles. Safety and security is provided for all district campuses, administration and support service buildings. Our team assists in emergency planning and response, safety drills and training. We provide monitoring and response of inclement weather and after-hours protection.
Prevention and Support
We take a unique approach to the safety operations with the philosophy that building relationships with students can often prevent incidents and minimize conflict. Safety Services partners with parents and the community to provide not only security and safety, but also many support services. We are constantly seeking to improve and maintain strong relationships within the community. Many of our officers are parents, and several serve as mentors, coaches, and advisors for our students.
High Standards
Our team takes pride in maintaining high standards for our safety officers. Before being considered for employment, potential candidates must have a minimum of two years of experience in schools, security and/or youth intervention. Officers must have excellent interpersonal skills and strong verbal and written communication skills. Additionally, every officer must attend a minimum of 80 hours of annual training.
