Prohibition of Discrimination & Harassment

  • Non-Discrimination Statement

The Kent School District does not discriminate in any programs or activities on the basis of sex, race, creed, religion, color, national origin, age, veteran or military status, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, disability, or the use of a trained dog guide or service animal and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups.

    Harassment

Kent School District is committed to an education and working environment free from harassment. Employees, volunteers, parents and students can expect to be treated with dignity, respect, and understanding. Any act that insults or denies an opportunity to any employee, student, parent, or others who are involved in student activities because of the conditions listed above are considered harassment and are not permitted.

Anyone who experiences conduct that violates this policy can personally discuss or write to the offending person in an effort to have him or her stop. Otherwise, anyone may feel free to bring the matter to the attention of the school principal, department administrator, the Superintendent, or Mr. Randy Heath, Interim Chief School Operations and Academic Support Officer. Concerns will be investigated promptly and the District will take appropriate corrective action, if necessary, at the conclusion of the investigation. Complaints may be reported without any fear of retaliation. A report can be filed by initiating the district complaint procedure on the district website or by calling 253-373-7203. It is extremely important to the district that all claims of discrimination and harassment of any kind, including sexual harassment, be reported. For more information, see Kent School District Policies 3205, 3207, 3210, and 5013.
