Families were asked to rank the most important topics for the next school year. Most families ranked Safe and Secure Schools as their highest priority and the 2023 Bond as their lowest priority. This is the second year that a ranked priorities question was posed to families, and it was the second year that Safe and Secure Schools was ranked as the highest priority.
The chart below shows the breakout of rankings for each topic. 1st is most important for the following school year; 5th is the least important.
In the questions below, families were asked about how they felt about various statements related to their child’s school. Their responses were scored along a Likert Scale as follows: Strongly Disagree, Disagree, Neither Agree nor Disagree, Agree, Strongly Agree.
The chart below shows the survey items with the greatest change in the percent of families who responded positively to each question. The positivity of a response is calculated by combining the Strongly Agree, Agree, and half of the Neither Agree nor Disagree responses.
Overall, the 2023 Family Climate Survey garnered more positive responses, suggesting a rebound from the more negative responses over the prior year. Several of the survey items with the greatest change reflect families' increasing opportunities to engage with their child's school. This coincides with fewer families reporting barriers that prevent their participation (the survey item with the least positive response).
The questions below were limited to questions with a percent change greater than ±5.0%.
