It’s never too early to start thinking about the future. Students have many paths to choose from after high school graduation, including college and career, so starting early can help them explore and maximize their options. 

Kent School District prepares all students for their futures by helping them build strong foundations in academic and social learning. Students are also encouraged to meet with their high school counselor to plan for their futures.  

Two-Year & Technical Colleges

• Smaller class sizes
• Specialized degrees
• Less expensive than four-year universities

Trade Schools & Apprenticeships 

• Certificate and two-year degree options
• Opportunities for hands-on training in a specific field
• Paid positions available

Four-Year Universities

• Expansive offerings of courses and degrees

Families Can Help Students Succeed

• Make attendance a priority
• Ask about their homework and contact their teacher, principal or counselor if they’re struggling and need additional support
• Use Skyward to regularly track their attendance and grades
• Attend parent teacher conferences
• Stay involved by volunteering at school events or joining the parent association
• Talk with your student about their High School and Beyond Plan
• Help them set goals and develop a plan to prepare for their future
