ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵapp decided in 2021 to discontinue school-day administration of PSAT or SAT. This decision was made based upon research showing that less than 10% of ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵapp (Kent School District) graduates needed the SAT to meet their high school graduation requirements. Additionally, the majority of ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵapp graduates who enrolled in college directly after high school enrolled at state college or university programs that have permanently removed the SAT as an entrance requirement.
More than 80% of four-year colleges do not require applicants to submit SAT scores for admission (). In recent years, many admissions departments have revised their requirements for standardized admission tests, shifting to test-optional or test-blind policies. Check with the admissions office of the college or university you’re interested in to learn their specific processes.
The Executive Cabinet reviewed this decision in September 2023 and agreed to uphold the current practice.
