2020-2021 School Year

The Kent School Board's goals for the 2020-2021 school year were developed by the Board Superintendent Governance Team (BSGT) and unanimously approved by the Board at the regular board meeting on .  

Goal 1 Evaluation and Metrics Monitoring

1. Superintendent evaluation meetings will be done semi-annually with the intent of setting smart achievable goals and new goals set by July 1 for the coming school year.the 
   • year 2020 will have an exception as smart goals will not be set until the end of October 2020 with the Superintendent and the Board facing a Pandemic year has created many more issues of regularity falling behind due to pressing issues taking precedence.
2. Review and Monitoring of prioritized metrics (current calendar year Initiatives) done by the Strategic Planning Committee done semi-annually by of school year. 
3. Progress Monitoring of the Board Goals semi-annually

Goal 2 Communication Plan

1. Review and update the 2018-2019 Communication Plan by the end of the calendar year.

Goal 3 - Policy Review

1. Have a work session every month to review policy.
2. Add staff timeline on policy adoption.
3. Add WSSDA timeline to board calendar.

Goal 4 - Annual Calendar

Board Annual Agenda Plan is a fluid document that currently includes: presentations, reports, resolutions, general operating business, and recognitions (special meetings), superintendent evaluation dates, budget evaluation dates, school closures for holidays and breaks, and graduations. This Annual Calendar will be established before the school year begins. (July/August)

The purpose of the Kent School District’s (ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵapp) Board Communications Plan is to present a clear and concise framework for school board members communicating with our school community.

The ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵapp Board Communications Plan is a living document that will be continuously reviewed and updated by the Board-Superintendent Governance Team (BSGT). The plan was written by and developed in partnership with the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵapp Director of Communications and Public Affairs, Melissa Laramie. This plan is in alignment with the district communications plan and with the Vision, Mission, and Core Values of Kent School District.

As called for the in 2020-2021 BSGT Communication Goals and this Communications plan the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵapp Board is currently working together to review and update the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵapp Board Communications Plan September 2018 – August 2019 (Updated October 4, 2018) for implementation in the 2021-2022 school year.
