    In the spirit of continuous improvement and community partnership, the Kent School District Board of Directors and administrative leadership regularly meet each spring with the city councils of Kent and Covington to discuss key issues within each entity.  This year, these work sessions will be held in the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵapp boardroom as follows:

    Notice of Updates to Regular Board Meeting Public Comment (Procedure 1420P)

    Beginning with the January 10, 2024 regular board meeting, changes to Procedure Proposed Agenda and Consent Agenda, specific to Communication from the Audience, will be implemented as provided to the board as an Informational item on November 8, 2023.  This revised procedure provides efficiency, clarification, and expectations for the public comment process at regular board meetings. There have been no recent updates to corresponding Policy .

    • The revised procedure aligns with the board’s value of public comment and the importance of involving students, staff, and members of the public in its meetings.
    • ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵapp’s public comment procedure includes the following:
      • Prioritization of student comments over all else.
      • No changes to the existing practice of hearing an unlimited number of comments on both non-agenda items, and agenda-specific items.
      • Ensured equitable access for the public to make comments to the board, whether verbally in person, verbally on video, or written.

    Public Comment Submission for Regular Board Meetings 

    Regular Board meetings are held in person at the Central Administration office at 12033 SE 256th Street, Kent WA 98030 on the dates indicated above. The Board recognizes the value of public comment and the importance of involving members of the public in its meetings.

    Whether made verbally in person, verbally on video, or written, comments are limited to a total of one (1) per person, per regular board meeting. One (1) additional comment per person may be submitted for a public hearing topic if there is a public hearing on the agenda.

    ALL forms of public comment are subject to .  The public may comment at regular board meetings in a manner authorized by state law.  All comments must adhere to Policy and Procedure and will be accepted via the following processes:

    In Person Verbal Comment

    If you wish to make an in person verbal comment to the board, comment forms will be available for completion prior to the meeting and must be turned in no later than the beginning of the Legislative Report.  In person comments are limited to three (3) minutes.

    Online Video Verbal Comment

    If you are unable to attend in person to make your comment to the board, you may complete and submit your video comment.  This form is open as of midnight the Friday prior to the regular meeting and closes at 6:30 p.m. the day prior (24 hours) to the meeting. It is highly recommended to record your video comment via your cell phone or computer in advance of completing this form for ease of uploading.  Video comments are limited to three (3) minutes.

    Online Written Comment

    If you are unable to attend in person to make your comment to the board, you may complete this and submit your written comment.  This form is open as of midnight the Friday prior to the regular meeting and closes at 6:30 p.m. the day prior (24 hours) to the meeting. Your written comment will be provided to the board, however, will not be read aloud at the regular meeting. Written comments are limited to 450 words.

    Accessibility and Interpretation Accommodations

    Accommodations for accessibility and/or comments requiring interpretation services need to be submitted by 5:00 p.m. the Monday prior to the board meeting. Please note every effort will be made to provide accommodation/translation services. Request services at translations@kent.k12.wa.us

        • In person comments requiring an interpreter to be live in the boardroom will be scheduled via advance request at translations@kent.k12.wa.us.

    Live Streams

    As of the 2018-2019 school year, regular meetings (RM) and work sessions (WS) are live-streamed. The videos can be viewed on this website (see the Watch Now section below) through August or on the  for many years to come. 

    Prior to the 2018-2019 school year, only regular meetings were live-streamed. Videos from September 2014 to July 2019 are archived and available to view on the .
